Ellen Marie Harlin, age 98, died peacefully on Friday, January 1, 2010 at an Austin, TX hospital after a short illness. Marie was born March 5, 1911 on the family farm Northwest of Mustang. She grew up on the family farm and attended Prairie Queen country school and was a 1930 graduate of Mustang High School. She attended Central State Teachers College (now UCO) and received her teaching certificate. She taught elementary school for ten years. She was an active member of Wesley UMC in Oklahoma City before moving to Yukon where she was active at First UMC there. She and her husband Varney were also active with the Buffalo Ramblers Travel Club for many years. Marie had recently moved from Yukon to Wimberley, TX to be near her children. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Varney, one daughter Retta Gay, one brother Clarence and five sisters Bessie, Ada, Lizzie, Ethel and Evelyn. Survivors include one daughter Rilla Kitchen and husband Earl of Wimberley, TX, one son Gary Harlin and wife Janet of Midlothian, TX, five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Services will be held at 2pm on Thursday, January 7, 2010 in the Chapel of The Good Shepherd at McNeil’s Mustang Funeral Service, Mustang, OK with interment following in Mustang Cemetery, Mustang, Oklahoma.

I saw the notice in the paper this morning and I thought it might be the Harlin family that lived on 18th street in OKC years ago. Regardless, I am sorry for your loss - sounds as if your loved one lived a long fruitful life.
