Royce Lee McIntyre
10/22/1924 - 2/16/2010





Royce Lee McIntyre, 85, passed away February 16, 2010. Royce was born October 22, 1924, in Hollis, OK to Texie Mae Martin and William Luther McIntyre. Although he received a diploma from Hollis High School, he missed his senior year to join the US Army Air Corps. He served his country during WWII on the Pacific islands of New Guinea, Saipan and Guam. After returning home, he married Betty Jo Pybas and the two owned and operated the Eastside Grocery in Hollis. In 1954, the couple moved to OKC and Royce became a milkman and supervisor for Meadow Gold Dairy. A decade later he became an independent distributor for Gold Spot Dairy. After retiring, Royce spent the past 18 years driving a bus for Mustang Public Schools. He loved gardening, raising chickens and birds, fishing, boating, camping and woodworking. He enjoyed studying his Bible and was a devout member of the Lakehoma Church of Christ. Royce was very sociable and loved to share a good story. He was a peaceful, compassionate, honest and generous man who believed in working hard for his family. Royce was preceded in death by his 2 sisters, Cleta Milner and Muriel Cummings, his parents, and his wife of 59 years, Betty. He is survived by a son, Billy Joe McIntyre of Yukon, OK, and a sister, Barbara Yancey of Amarillo, TX. Also by granddaughters, Ashley Jo and Valerie Jo McIntyre, both of Yukon, OK, and many relatives and friends who loved him dearly. Services will be held at 10am , on Saturday, February 20, 2010, at Lakehoma Church of Christ in Mustang with interment following in Mustang Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by McNeil’s Mustang Funeral Service.

Royce, is heaven's gain he was our milkman untill he retired. Our neighbor and wonderful Christian, who loved the word of God and his Lakehoma Family. We bought Little John the kids first pony, from Royce and he always was their to check on him and to give the kids icecream when thet were sick, I'am Blessed for having such a wonderful neighbor all those years.
