Claude W. Smith

Claude W. (C.W.) Smith, age 73, died Wednesday, February 24, 2010 after a short illness. He was born November 25, 1936 in Hobart, OK to J.O. and Eunice (Stafford) Smith and grew up in Roosevelt, OK. He was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in 1955, received his associate’s degree from Cameron University in Lawton and served in the US army where he was on the US Army Baseball Team. He started his career in sales, with Sear Roebuck and Co. while in college at Cameron University in Lawton. He worked many years at the 23rd Street location before ending his career of 43 years at the Norman store. He loved family and gardening. He was very involved with all sports and coached little league. He was a member of the Baptist Church. C.W. was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife Alline of the home in Tuttle, one son Robert Smith and wife Judy of River Springs, OK, one daughter Debbie Lankford and husband Tim of Tuttle, seven grandchildren Alyssa, Wyatt, Lindy, Andrea, James, Nicole and Casey. Services will be held at 10am on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the First UMC in Tuttle, OK with interment following at 3pm in the Roosevelt Cemetery, Roosevelt, OK under the direction of McNeil’s Mustang Funeral Service, Mustang, Oklahoma.
