Donald Dee McGowan, age 91, died Thursday February 25, 2010 after a period of declining health. He was born December 20, 1918 in Sodus, Michigan to William and Alice (Trathen) McGowan. He was a long time resident of Benton Harbor and St. Joseph, MI and was a member of 1st United Methodist Church. He moved to Mustang, OK in 2007. He was a proud WWII Army Veteran and served at the European Front, experiencing D-day and the Liberation of Paris. He was involved in Boy Scouts until age seventy-two and was also an avid golfer, starting at age nine and golfing in leagues until age eighty-eight. He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes June, three brothers Lee, Stewart and William McGowan and one sister Ruth Ann Kasischke. He is survived by two sons Gregory Lee McGowan of Orlando, FL and Donald Dee McGowan and wife Corenne of Avon, IN and one daughter Sue Ann McGowan-Miller and husband Rick of Yukon, OK. He is also survived by three grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at a later date to be determined. Arrangements were handled by McNeil’s Mustang Funeral Service, Mustang, OK.

I worked with Don at Meijers and out of love called him, "Grumpy Old Man" He was truly a wonderful human being.
